We can all see that, although the entire European civilization was built on Christian values, it is no longer a dominant force in our society. It is a fact that, in our society, Christianity is slipping into irrelevance. On the contrary, so-called progressivism dominates today; although it does not imply a commitment to a spiritual deity, it nevertheless exhibits the characteristics of a zealous religious sect, complete with purity tests, witch hunts, and trials for heresy.

Thus, in our society, employees are required to attend training courses on transgenderism. If you contradict the slogans of these new masters of the universe, you risk losing your job or even facing criminal punishment. The proponents of this idea want to go into schools and encourage children to change their gender. By doing so, they are opposing the order established by God, according to which people are created “male and female” (Genesis 1:27).

Anyone who quotes the Bible and says that homosexual behavior is sinful (Leviticus 18:22, Romans 1:26–32) should expect to face criminal prosecution. There is a push to rewrite the Bible, removing certain passages, because they offend people who do not like being told that their way of life is condemned as sinful. If they were to do so, however, they would have to discard the entire Scripture, which highlights the distinction between God, who is holy, and people, who are sinners. God’s Word concerning humanity is not discriminatory, for “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…” (Romans 3).

This Word of God affirms that sex outside of marriage is sinful. In His love and mercy, God calls us all to a new life through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. At the same time, He brings us into the shelter of His love: “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

For God, nationality is irrelevant; what matters to Him is whether or not you are saved. The only way to be saved is through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, as Peter said: “There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

This is the truth that troubles the world most today. The relentless criticism and ridicule of Christianity have caused much of the professing church to abandon the New Testament teaching that Jesus is the only mediator between God and man. Instead, they proclaim a religion of many faiths, where all paths lead to God and all gods are equal. But not all paths lead to God. The Lord Jesus declared: “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6).

The decline of the Christian faith in Europe is closely linked to the decline of faith within the church. Leaders from various denominations publicly undermine the central teachings of the Bible, such as God in Creation, original sin, the miracles in the Bible,  the cross and the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, the hope of the Second Coming, and the doctrine of eternal judgment (heaven and hell). There are church leaders who condone lifestyles that the Bible calls sinful. They turn the Lord Jesus into a sort of left-wing social worker who is not the Son of God who came from heaven sinless to save us. They reduce the message of the Gospel to just one of many options you can choose to find your way to God.

Moreover, the aim is to establish a new world religion that does not want to offend anyone and allows people the freedom to do as they please, even if that means sinning. Such a religious system was unveiled at the recent meeting of leaders of the major religions on Mount Sinai in support of the Climate Change Agenda. They have written 10 new Commandments for our time with the aim of uniting all faiths and saving the world from the threat of climate change. Their initiative will foster a partnership between leading religious figures from the world’s major religions and world leaders: “Climate Justice: Ten Universal Commandments.” They set forth the ten principles for climate repentance (it is quite curious that these are intended to mimic God’s Ten Commandments!):

1. We are stewards of this world;

2. Creation manifests divinity;

3. Everything in life is interconnected;

4. Do no harm;

5. Take care of tomorrow;

6. Rise above the ego of our world;

7. Change your inner climate;

8. Repent and turn back;

9. Every action counts;

10. Use your mind, open your heart.

If we compare these 10 “climate commandments”—drafted by a committee of religious leaders from various faiths—with the original 10 Commandments given by God to Moses on Mount Sinai (Exodus 20), we see that God’s commandments are clear in their meaning: “You shall have no other gods before Me… You shall not steal, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder.” However, these new 10 commandments are vague and open to all sorts of interpretations.

Commandments 2 and 3—“Creation manifests divinity” and “Everything in life is interconnected”—sound like an expression of the pantheistic idea that everything is one and God is in all things. This is, in fact, the foundation of Eastern religions, completely different from the biblical view of God as separate from and above His creation, yet involved in His creation through the Holy Spirit. Commandment 7 states, “Change your inner climate.” How? Probably through meditation, the discovery of the god within (this was also Lucifer’s sin and his ancient temptation of man), as taught in yoga. Jesus said, “You must be born again.” To do this, we must repent of our sins, believe that through faith in the sacrifice of the Son of God we can be forgiven, and invite the Holy Spirit into our lives so that we may be sanctified through His work in us. The eighth commandment says, “Repent and turn back.” To what should you turn back? The answer can only be vague. If we compare this expression with the Lord Jesus’ clear exhortation—that the kingdom of God is near and that we must repent and believe the Gospel—we see a great difference.

The Bible constantly calls us to repentance and faith in God. The Scriptures also show us that in the last days, all religions will unite and create a system that will reject the Gospel and the message of Scripture. This will lead to the one-world religion prophesied in Revelation 17. In this prophecy, the great harlot is the false church that rides the beast (the global antichrist system) and persecutes true believers (drunk with the blood of the saints). Traditionally, Protestants have identified the woman in Revelation 17 with Roman Catholicism. Rome is part of it—perhaps its head—but it is more than Rome; it is the union of all false religions, including all denominations of nominal Christianity that do not preach the Gospel. All of these have their roots in the idolatrous religion of Babylon: “Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and spoke to me, saying, ‘Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters. The kings of the earth have committed adultery with her, and the inhabitants of the earth have become drunk with the wine of her adulteries!” And he carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast, full of blasphemous names, and it had seven heads and ten horns. This woman was dressed in purple and scarlet; she was adorned with gold, precious stones, and pearls. In her hand she held a golden cup filled with the abominations and the impurities of her fornication. On her forehead was written a name, a mystery: BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. And I saw this woman drunk with the blood of the saints and the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. When I saw her, I was greatly astonished” (Revelation 17:1–6).

Outwardly, this form of religion will imitate Christianity and may use Christian terminology, but in reality it will be anti-Christian. Revelation 13:11 speaks of the false prophet who testifies on behalf of the Beast, which had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon. In other words, he might appear on the outside like a lamb (Jesus), but on the inside he is like a dragon (the devil). Just as the Lord Jesus said of them: wolves in sheep’s clothing (Matthew 7:15).

The outward facade of the religion that will precede the Lord’s coming will appear to be on God’s side, but it will be a facade; in reality, on the inside, it will be serving the devil. The Apostle Paul wrote that one of the signs of the last days will be that some will have “a form of godliness but deny its power” (2 Timothy 3:5). Formal religion cannot solve humanity’s fundamental problem—our sin, our failure to keep God’s commandments, and our rejection of the gospel. Only the Gospel of Christ is the power of God capable of radically transforming the lives of those who repent and believe in the Lord Jesus: “For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Greek; for in it is revealed a righteousness from God through faith, leading to faith, as it is written: ‘The righteous will live by faith’ (Romans 1:16–17).

The power of God is found in the message of the Gospel that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:3–5). Paul continued: “For the time will come when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own desires. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn to myths” (2 Timothy 4:3–4). The time when people will not be able to endure sound teaching has come. Much of the established church, the religious community in general, and the media prefer to tell made-up stories, classifying the accounts in the Bible as myths and legends.

The Lord Jesus said: “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and few are those who find it” (Matthew 7:13–14). Therefore, there is a gate to enter and a path to follow. The gate is repentance and faith, and the path that leads to God is that of holiness and self-denial.

Although it is difficult to swim against the current in a world that categorically rejects God, it is still worth it, because only this way of life leads to heaven and eternal happiness, whereas the broad way, which the world’s religions follow, leads to destruction (hell). But you, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and repent of every sin, and you will thus come to know the power of God that brings salvation!
