1. Signs of the End: The Warning Judgment in Europe

We are living in times of particular gravity, in which the earth itself seems to cry out under the burden of human sin. The severe droughts that repeatedly strike various regions of Europe, the extreme temperatures, fires, wars, and the insecurity gripping the world should prompt us not only to seek natural, economic, or political explanations, but also to ask ourselves whether God is once again calling humanity to pause and look to Him.

The Bible shows us that God is Lord over creation and that, throughout biblical history, He has sometimes even used drought and crop failure to awaken a people who had strayed from Him.

In Deuteronomy 11:16–17, God warned: “Be careful that your heart is not led astray and that you do not turn away to serve other gods and bow down to them. For then the Lord’s anger would be kindled against you; He would shut up the heavens so that there would be no rain, and the land would yield no produce.”

The parched earth should, therefore, prompt us to lift our eyes to heaven once more.

2. Drought and God’s Call to Repentance

The Bible repeatedly presents drought not only as a natural phenomenon but also as a context in which people are called to examine their relationship with God. The prophet Jeremiah described it dramatically: “The earth is cracking because no rain has fallen on the land, and the farmers, whose hopes have been dashed, cover their heads.” (Jeremiah 14:4). And in the time of Elijah, the heavens were shut for a time: “As the Lord God of Israel lives… there will be neither dew nor rain in these years, except at my word” (1 Kings 17:1).

But the purpose of God’s warning is not merely punishment. God calls people to repentance. One of the best-known promises of the Old Testament states: “If My people, on whom My name is called, will humble themselves, pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear them from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)

This is the perspective our world needs once again: humility, repentance, and a return to God.

3. A World That Must Heed the Signs of the Times

Drought is not the only reason our generation must wake up.

Jesus spoke of a time when the world would be shaken by wars, famines, earthquakes, and other upheavals.

He said: “You will hear of wars and rumors of wars... One nation will rise against another, and one kingdom against another; and there will be earthquakes in various places, as well as famines and plagues.” (Matthew 24:6–7). And in Luke 21:11 we read: “There will be great earthquakes, famines, and pestilences in various places; and there will be terrifying events and great signs from heaven.”

We do not know exactly when Christ will return. The Lord Jesus Himself said: “But of that day and hour no one knows.” (Matthew 24:36). But that same Jesus commanded us to watch and discern the times: “In the same way, when you see all these things, know that the Son of Man is near, right at the door.” (Matthew 24:33)

Therefore, the Christian’s response must be to stay alert.

4. The “Omega” Phenomenon and a Symbol That Points Us to Christ

There is also talk these days of certain atmospheric disturbances called “Omega,” due to their configuration resembling the Greek letter Ω. From a meteorological standpoint, this is the origin of the name. We should not claim that the name of the phenomenon in itself represents the fulfillment of a biblical prophecy.

But for anyone familiar with Scripture, the word “Omega” cannot help but bring to mind one of the most striking statements of the Lord Jesus Christ: “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”
(Revelation 22:13).

Alpha is the first letter of the Greek alphabet. Omega is the last. The message is extraordinary: Christ is the Lord of the beginning and the Lord of the end. The history of humanity is not an endless string of aimless events. It had a beginning and is heading toward a moment appointed by God. It is not the meteorological phenomenon “Omega” that determines the end of this world.

Jesus Christ, the Alpha and the Omega, is the Lord of history. He was before us. He is here today. And He will have the final say.

5. This world is heading toward judgment

Modern man is trying to build a world in which God becomes less and less relevant. Science advances, technology develops, artificial intelligence transforms society, and man comes to believe that he can control almost anything.

But there are three things man cannot eliminate: sin, death, and the encounter with God.

Scripture declares: “It is appointed for people to die once, and after that comes judgment” (Hebrews 9:27).

The Apostle Paul warned: “God does not take into account the times of ignorance, but now commands all people everywhere to repent, because he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice.” (Acts 17:30–31).

And the Lord Jesus says: “For the Son of Man is to come in the glory of His Father, with His angels; and then He will reward each person according to his deeds.” (Matthew 16:27).

Revelation reveals the grandeur of that day: “Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him.” (Revelation 1:7).

There will, therefore, come a day when the world will encounter the One whom it may ignore today. But this is precisely where the wonderful news of the Gospel begins. Before the judgment, God raised up a Cross. The Cross of Christ—the only way of salvation.

God does not desire man’s destruction. Before Christ came as Judge, He came as Savior. The Son of God became man and went to Golgotha, where He took our sin upon Himself. Scripture says: “Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:3). And: “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree” (1 Peter 2:24).

This is the heart of the Gospel. Guilty man cannot save himself. Good deeds cannot erase sin. Religion cannot replace being born again. Civilization cannot overcome death. There is only one way. The Lord Jesus said: “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6).

And the apostles proclaimed: “There is salvation in no one else.” (Acts 4:12). The cross shows us how serious sin is, but also how great God’s love is: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him may not perish but have eternal life.”
(John 3:16).

6. God’s Call for Our Generation

If God speaks through His Word, then the crucial question is: how should we respond?

The Lord Jesus’ message was clear from the very beginning of His ministry: “Repent and believe in the Gospel.” (Mark 1:15).

This is the message the world needs. It is not enough to find solutions to drought. It is not enough to develop more advanced technologies. It is not enough to try to make the world safer. Humanity must be reconciled with its Creator. Repentance means acknowledging sin, turning away from it, and turning one’s heart toward God through faith in Jesus Christ.

Scripture says: “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away.” (Acts 3:19).

And there is still hope, because God “does not want anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9).

But God’s call contains one essential word: TODAY. “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” (2 Corinthians 6:2)

Jesus Christ is coming again. The cross was not the end. Christ has risen. He ascended into heaven. And He promised that He would return. Before His departure, He told His disciples: “I will come back and take you with Me.” (John 14:3)

At His ascension, the angels declared: “This Jesus… will come in the same way as you saw Him go into heaven.” (Acts 1:11).

And the apostle Paul describes the hope of believers: “The Lord Himself… will descend from heaven.” (1 Thessalonians 4:16). This is the hope of the Church.

But for the unrepentant world, His return means judgment. That is why Jesus warns us: “Therefore, stay alert, for you do not know on what day your Lord will come.”
(Matthew 24:42).

7. The Alpha and the Omega—The Final Word Belongs to Jesus Christ

Droughts will pass. Heat waves will pass. Wars will pass. Governments will pass. Civilizations will pass. Even the present heavens and earth will pass away.

But Jesus says, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away.”
(Matthew 24:35) Therefore, when we hear the word “Omega” today, let us remember first not a meteorological phenomenon, but the One who is the true Alpha and Omega.

History began by His will, and by His will it will reach its fulfillment. He is the Creator. He is the Savior. He is the Judge. He is the King who is coming. And nearly the last words of all Scripture are His words: “Yes, I am coming soon.” (Revelation 22:20)

Therefore, the message of these times must not be one of panic, but of spiritual urgency. If you have not received Jesus Christ, do not delay. Repent of your sins. Believe in the sacrifice of the Son of God on the Cross. Ask Him for forgiveness. Surrender your life to Him. Be reconciled to God while the door of grace is still open. For He who said, “I AM THE ALPHA AND THE OMEGA, THE BEGINNING AND THE END,” also said, “YES, I AM COMING SOON.”

And the response of those who await Him remains the same: “Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!”
