I am the Light of the world.
Whoever follows Me will not walk in darkness,
but will have the light of life
Jesus, the light of the world
I am the Light of the world.
In today's article we want to deal with popular expressions about God and Christianity that are falsely circulating in our midst today and show to what extent they are biblical.
Thus, expressions like Christianity is a religion like many others, all people go to heaven when they die, the God of the Old Testament is different from the God of the New Testament are very common in our society but they are not in line with the eternal truths of God revealed in His book.
Christianity is a religion like many others
All religions lead to God “Christianity is a religion like many others.” “I am a Christian because I am good to people. If I don't go to church, don't read or don't believe the Bible, it doesn't mean I am not a Christian.”
All people go to heaven when they die
“There is no hell and anyone who says otherwise is lying.” Jesus was a good man who spoke about having to work to earn your bread. I’m a good, hardworking person, so I’m going to heaven.”
3. The Bible is a book like any other book
“The Bible is a book like any other book, and it’s full of mistakes and was written by people from another era, so it’s not relevant today. “It’s full of children’s stories and it’s not much help when you’re older and can think for yourself.”
4. The God of the Old Testament is different from the God of the New Testament
“God is much gentler now – much less angry.”
5. God has changed his mind about our lifestyle
He considered homosexuality and transsexualism to be sinful – he realized his mistake and changed his mind.” “God may have started with just two sexes, but since then we’ve evolved and we have many more.” “Killing babies is allowed because I do what I want with my body and I decide what happens to it.”
6. God is Love
“Everyone goes to heaven because God is love. Sin is an outdated concept
7. Church is a social and religious meeting place.
“It’s where all my friends get together for a chat and a coffee. We are actively involved in charity work and have raised hundreds of pounds for the church by selling various items.” “I go to church on certain occasions, at Easter and Christmas. I like to sing carols and also attend weddings and funerals organised by the church.
These views are believed by many people today, but they are wrong. In reality, no religion can lead the soul to God. God is holy, far from the evil and darkness of this world, and between us and Him there is a wall, namely our sin and disobedience, because the Scripture says: “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Rituals, prayers, good deeds, or donations cannot bridge the gap that separates us from the Holy One.
The only way to God is through faith in the true gospel of Jesus Christ. He Himself said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). In conclusion, the only way to God is through Jesus Christ, the Savior.
Being a Christian is not just about being good or going to church or being born into a nominally Christian family. Thousands of people claim to be Christians, but very few truly know and understand the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. He said, “You must be born again,” and “unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God” (John 3:7-8). To be born again, we must repent of our sins and believe in the gospel: that Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). If we listen to Him and follow Him, we are on the narrow path that leads to life. If we do not, we are on the broad path that leads to destruction (Matthew 7:13-14).
After death, there is a final separation between those who go to heaven and those who go to hell. Heaven is described as the place where God dwells: “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them. And he shall wipe away every tear from their eyes. And death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things are passed away.” (Revelation 21:3-4)
Only those who have made peace with God during their lifetime and called on the name of the Lord Jesus for salvation will go to heaven. On the other side is hell, a real place you would not want to know: “And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne. And books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:12-15)
The Lord Jesus was not only a good man, but he was absolutely sinless, being perfect.
We are seeing more and more headlines about the imminence or even the outbreak of World War III popping up everywhere in the media. For example, Russia has repeatedly threatened NATO that it will launch missiles armed with nuclear warheads at European capitals; China is conducting military maneuvers to intimidate Taiwan; and Turkey and Iran are constantly threatening Israel with war.
